The talk is expected to cover the beginning of Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which started on 1 July 2019. The talk should also touch on Finnish policy concerning the allegations made by the Hungarian government on the state of Finnish rule of law.
“I am very excited to welcome the new Minister for European Affairs to Europe Forum Turku. The programme for Friday is going to be magnificent. On Friday, Vice-president of the European Commission Jyrki Katainen, Finnish Commissioner candidate Jutta Urpilainen and nearly all Finnish Members of the European Parliament, Governor of the Bank of Finland Olli Rehn as well as leaders of labour market organisations will be in the city in addition to the Minister for European Affairs,” Europe Forum Project Manager Väinö Kuusinen says with a smile.
Question time for Finnish Commissioner candidate Jutta Urpilainen and a public hearing of the Finnish Parliament’s Grand Committee are among the earlier inclusions to the Europe Forum Turku programme. All events are open to the public and invite questions and comments to the speakers. See the entire Europe Forum Turku programme here.
